Biographical information:

Since school, I've been... Graduated from Va. Tech in 1962 with BS in Forestry. Spent entire working career in forestry. From 1962 through 1978 industrial forestry, employed by a hardwood veneer company as a log buyer, then with a paper mill as a wood procurement forester, and then with a hardwood lumber manufacturer as a timber buyer/land buyer/veneer log sales. 1978 thru 2004 Forestry Consulting firm (Les Ott & Associates, Inc.)The consulting firm grew to a total of 7 full time employees. In June of 2004, I sold the firm to a Forestry Consuling firm from Europe and retired. The firm at the time of the sale was managing over 50,000 acres of timberland for investment companys, coal companies, trusts and small private landowners. Right after that I had a part time retirement job that entailed purchasing White Oak Logs for the whiskey barrel operation of the company that makes Jack Daniels Whiskey. It was a real hoot, especially when I got free samples! I gave that up in April 2009, but still do some timber land management work for 2 of my former clients of the past 30 years.

My family: Married the former Mary (Sugar) Linkous who went to school with us during the 1955 56 school year. Three daughters and Three grandaughters. Mary (Sugar) died of lung cancer in July 2005. On September 5,2006,I married Jane Lou Albert (Stafford),(Class of 54). Jane Lou and I reside in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Life experiences: Having a very colorful career, and a great family.

My favorite things in school: My friends at NHS,swimming at the "Boom", and going to all the dances at Narrows and Rich Creek.

My favorite things now: Traveling and spending time with family members

My favorite books, movies and music: Favorite movies are anything with Clint Eastwood.

I work at: I have a part time retirement job.
