Biographical information:
Since school, I've been...
I enlisted US Air Force 23 April 1952. Served for twenty six years six months retiring 31 October 1978. In 1981 I graduated Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University San Marcos) with a BAAS degree. I then worked for 10 years in a local light freight handling and distribution center.
My family:
Married wife Mary Ann in 1955 in Seneca Falls, NY. My wife called Saginaw, Michigan home until we were married. Our family grew to 4 sons. Dave, Donn, Doug, Dick and daughter Dina. 8 grandchildren. Ryan, Adam, Ashley, Kristin, Whitney, Noah, Amanda and Vanessa and great grandson Colten. My wife and I celebrated our 54th Wedding Anniversary July 2nd, 2009.
Life experiences:
I hope I have not experienced it yet!!!! But some would certainly include my Military Career: The Far East and Southeast Asia countries I have visited, My marriage and the birth of my children and grandchildren. And of course all the girls I once kissed……
My favorite things in school:
Truthfully? Recess. However I did enjoy my classes with most of the faculty, like Ms Cuba Hardwick, Ms Dean Lowe, J. D. Janey, and Band Director Lyle Smith and the time I spent in the Giles County (Narrows/Pearisburg) HS Band. Loved those trips to Winchester and Baltimore. Cannot forget swimming fun at the Boom although Bikinis had not made the scene in those days. Cruising the Drug Stores, the W.E.B. Drive In, and Sunday Nite movies in Pearisburg.
My favorite things now:
All those abbreviated things like: TV, VCR, DVD, PC, TIVO, CELL, NASCAR, KISS, and EMAIL contacts with my NHS buddies.
My favorite books, movies and music:
I cannot recall the last time I was in a Movie Theater. Movies I watch on TV or VCR or DVD are mostly from much earlier years where there is enough lighting for me to see, and enough controlled volume for me to understand. And they are movies that were made by producers and directors who usually were more concerned with the story than some idea of symbolism. Those who did not attempt to portray what some self servingly called the mirroring of todays society. I read a lot but not any particular style or subject although I cannot seem to get enough of anything by W.E.B.Griffin.
